Report on the Simulation Area of INFORMS Journal on Computing

Marvin Nakayama, Simulation Area Editor

Since my last area-editor report on October 15, 2007, there have been 8 new submissions. The decisions made during that period are 3 acceptances, 3 rejections, 2 major revisions, and 1 minor revision. Currently, 4 manuscripts are under first review. The average turnaround time over all rounds of submission since I became the JOC simulation area editor has been 30 days.

The Associate Editors in the JOC Simulation Area are Russell Barton, James M. Calvin, Bruno Tuffin, and Enver Yucesan.

The JOC Simulation Area covers all computational aspects of simulation. We seek high-quality research on the computational aspects of simulation model building, simulation data structures, simulation modeling and experiment environments, stochastic input modeling, random-variate generation, output analysis, optimization, variance-reduction methods for simulation experiments, and other aspects of simulation modeling, experimentation, and analysis. Tutorials and applications in the above areas that are comprehensive and integrate from multiple sources are also welcome.

Complete instructions for preparing manuscripts are available at

Submissions to JOC must be done electronically through Manuscript Central:
